Have you taken legal drugs today? If your answer is no, it may be untrue. Knowingly or unknowingly, most of use legal drugs almost every day. When you reach for a cup of coffee, a cola or even a pain medication, you are taking legal drugs. So what makes one drug legal and not another?

Legal drugs are essentially those intoxicants that were declared legal at the United Nation Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs. Legal drugs include alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and several indigenous plants and herbs. They are easily available and can be bought in most drugstores. Some legal drugs may also be homegrown in your own backyard.

Use of Legal Drugs

Some legal drugs such as herbs have been used for centuries now. They were often used to dull pain during medical procedures or for intoxication. Drugs may be taken in many forms including inhalation and ingestion. While some legal drugs such as Hawaiian Baby Woodrose and nutmeg may act as hallucinogens, others drugs such as Datura are deliriants. Certain medication that can be bought over the counter may also include legal drugs. Codeine mixed with Paracetamol is available legally in many parts of the world. Other legal drugs used as medication include Viagra.

Are Legal Drugs Safe to Use?

Even though they are legal it doesn’t mean that these drugs can’t harm your body or become addictive. Experts advise that they should be used with caution and in moderation. Regular use of tranquilizers, prescription drugs and even cough medication may be addictive as most of them are legal drugs. Most legal drugs dull your senses and slow your reactions. This is why people are warned against driving or using heavy equipment after consumption of legal drugs. Used in moderation legal drugs may be enjoyed and also useful. However one must consider the risk of addiction and act wisely before opting to use legal drugs.

http://www.recoverydoesntsuck.com

In Narcotics Anonymous and other 12 step programs recovery is usually defined as complete abstinence from all mood and mind altering drugs. This includes the legal drug, alcohol. I have heard this questioned and debated many times and want to suggest some good reasons why Alcohol is a drug.

My personal experience is that Alcohol was a part of my using almost always. Although it was not my “Drug of Choice” I drank daily, and to excess. I did not admit that at first, but if I am honest with myself I know this to be true, for me. When I was first in treatment I insisted that my goal was not to give up drinking, or even smoking marijuana for that matter. I just wanted to quit Cocaine, which I didn’t really consider my drug of choice but rather the drug that was kicking my ass on a regular basis. They doctor asked me “Phil, if your life depended on it, could you abstain from all mood and mind altering drugs”? I replied that of course, if my life depended on it I could. Then they set about the business of convincing me that my life did depend on it.

The disease concept was one of the things they set out to educate me about. The disease concept, as I understand it suggests that addiction is an incurable and fatal disease that while incurable can be treated and put into remission by abstinence from mood and mind altering drugs. Further, it suggests that the remission can be broken by any drug, not just the former drug of choice, and not even a drug that the person has ever done before. In other words, if someone has never had a drink of alcohol, but is in recovery for some other drug use, their addiction can be awakened by a drink, and not only awakened, but awakened at the place it would have progressed to had the person been active the entire time. I know some don’t believe in the disease concept, but in my 16 plus years in the rooms of 12 step fellowships I have seen it happen enough that I believe it.

I know that some people seem to be able to go from drug addiction and somehow stop using the illegal drugs and manage to drink in a “responsible” manner. I won’t argue that its possible. Here is my concern: it cuts people off from the support of the 12 step fellowships, or if they continue to go, it puts them in a position to be dishonest. See even though some 12 step fellowships don’t expressly forbid anything other than their namesake (in other words technically you could go to AA, get years of sobriety while continuing to use marijuana) most of the “winners” in the program would tell you that you don’t have any sobriety without total abstinence. NA is 100 percent clear on this. There is no room in NA for someone who abstains from “narcotics” but drinks.

Big deal you say? Well, imagine this situation if you will. Let’s say you go to the program to deal with a cocaine problem. You are welcomed into AA, get a sponsor, attend meetings and work some steps. Lo and behold you put a few 24 hours together and declare yourself “Clean and Sober” to the world. In this example imagine that you are a published author and well known motivational speaker. As time goes on you decide that a drink sounds like a good idea, and you try it out and find that you can control it. What do you do when people ask you about your recovery? Well since you had a Cocaine problem, and you are still clean from Cocaine, you hear yourself saying “I’m clean and sober now for X amount of time”. Problem is that’s not true. Are you just lying to them, or are you lying to yourself too?

Then lets say that you end up with a pain management issue with a back injury. If you were still all the way in the program you would have a support system that includes all the people you know in the rooms in addition to your sponsor and your sponsees… but wait, since you wanted to drink, you don’t have a sponsor, you are not sponsoring others, and your not attending meetings. You are essentially alone, with your addiction ready to kick in with the aid of prescription pain killers….

An addict alone is in poor company. Alcohol is a drug. We must abstain from all drugs in order to recover. My example is a true story. All I can do is pray for him.

I don’t wonder about whether or not I could “get away” with drinking. I’m not willing to gamble my life on it today. I would suggest to you that its not worth it.

The use of medications and supplements to enhance body building has been debated for generations. Initially first-generation prohormones were banned because they were found to compromise liver functions and alter blood pressure. Numerous improvements have been made to the drugs over the years in order to make them safer while still retaining their effectiveness. The therapeutic purposes of the prescription medications are varied and include the following: to increase the appetite, treatment of chronic wasting conditions such as AIDs and cancer, to stimulate bone growth, and to induce male puberty. But the drugs are better known for their use in body building. However, problems arise because of legality issues associated with the drug. The legal status of the drugs varies from country to country but in the United States the medications have been listed as Schedule III, which means they are considered controlled substances. Selling or buying steroids is illegal without a prescription. Also, all major sporting bodies have banned the use of the drugs. In recent times newer and legal drugs have been developed. These drugs are reportedly almost as effective as their illegal counterparts. The drugs come in pill and powder form and are sold in authorized stores. The drugs meet the expectations of most fitness buffs since the results include increased muscle mass. They act by increasing the protein synthesis which results in rapid growth of muscle cells. Other benefits include a boost in strength, energy, and muscle recovery. When combined with body building exercises, a proper diet, and other supplements the results can be amazing. The body develops muscle mass and bulks up. Improved strength and energy provides more stamina when exercising which can result in more demanding work outs. A positive cycle develops and the benefits continue.Besides bringing about positive changes to the appearance the drugs can also have psychological benefits. The primary one is improved self-esteem and confidence related to the changed appearance. But even the legal drugs are not without potential side effects and dangers. These medications should be used with caution. The recommended dosage should be strictly followed and effects should be monitored. If any side effects or associated problems arise the drug should be stopped and professional medical attention should be sought. The reality is that every drug has the potential to be harmful if not taken correctly or if there are pre-existing or unknown medical issues. That is why any new regimen should begin with a visit to the doctor.

Executive Summary – The drug laws are not working. Everyone knows this. Eighty percent of the people in the massive USA prison system are locked up for drugs or drug related reasons. If the other countries legalize drugs, drop the victimless crime of money laundering (almost always tied to drugs so if drugs legal, then the money is not implicated in money laundering as fruits of a crime) then certain one world order governments will have nothing to bother foreign governments about.

The USA and UK being world visionaries (sic) have thus got the OECD to get all these tax information sharing agreements signed to be able to continue to invade worldwide privacy after the drugs are legalized. Gotta hand it to them, smart in a sick sort of way. So we can discern they see the legalization of drugs coming in other countries.

Who Has Legalized What – Below we have a list of countries in Latin America that have legalized drugs and what exactly is legalized.

Mexico – Mexico has passed a law eliminating criminal penalties for possessing small amount of Marijuana (5 grams is maximum allowed), Cocaine (half of a gram), Heroin (50 milligrams), LSD (o15 milligrams), Methamphetamine (40 milligrams). You can have this amount of each drug at the same time in your possession.

Brazil – They are moving towards eliminating jail time for people possessing small amounts of drugs for personal use.

Argentina – Their Supreme Court said it is illegal to criminally prosecute anyone for small-scale use of marijuana.

Ecuador – They are looking at legalizing small amount for personally possessed drugs like Argentina.

Peru – They allow the sale of Coca Leaf. This is what cocaine is made from. You can buy the leaf itself in bulk, and tea and ice cream made with coca leaf in it.

Venezuela – Coca leaf is for sale openly here as well.

Bolivia -Coca leaf is legal and openly for sale here.

Predictions – The real fix comes with full legalization including cultivation, sale and distribution (not exportation). This is what will end the problem. This is a toe in the water movement. Sooner or later it is expected that one country will go to full legalization of all drugs. If the USA hangs tough in their fight against drugs they will then be swamped with drug problems. Prices of drugs would go down drastically and thus usage would go up. This could be another crisis allowing Obama to increase federal police to fight the new enhanced war on drugs.

Drug Tourism – This will be a new cottage industry soon. All-inclusive hotels offering a drug buffet as well as a food buffet. USA citizens can be charged with crimes for doing something outside of the USA that would be illegal in the USA even though it is legal in the jurisdiction where you did it. This was first tested when the USA agents conducted a raid in Thailand arresting men for having paid sexual relations with under age Thai prostitutes. They were deported to USA and charged with having sex with minors since they were USA property, excuse me citizens. So consider DEA agents without anything better to do going to these new drug tourist resorts with cameras filming everyone using drugs. Then they compare to passport pictures of those going to the country recently and arrest them using the pictures as evidence. So remind the countries to make it illegal to film anyone in a drug resort.http://www.panamalaw.org

The issue of drug use in America seems to be a problem that will not go away anytime soon. Just look back on the history of its use in this country and you will see why. When asked about how to deal with the issue of drug use and drug problems in America, economist Milton Friedman suggested that the problem wasn’t with the drugs, it was with the government interfering.
If you think about all of the crime and violence that goes on, what is at the root of it all? Nine times out of ten, these violent crimes have to do with drugs and obtaining them. But because the government has intervened over the years, making drug use illegal and punishable by law, increasing numbers of people have been forced to change the way in which they obtain drugs. In most cases, this results in the cost of certain drugs going up either marginally or by a large percentage. But what would happen if we legalized drugs in this country? Let me play devil’s advocate for a minute here. Suppose it was ok to buy and sell drugs. This would probably lead to a sharp decline in violent crimes because the same people who are being accused as criminals would now no longer have to worry about getting caught by cops.
Additionally, the price of drugs would more than likely go down since there would be less of a financial burden placed on those wishing to buy. For instance, you could now walk into a convenience store and easily obtain your choice of marijuana or cocaine. Now, some might say that this is a horrible idea. If you legalize drugs, then you’re going to have an increased number of people who will be committing crimes and causing a ruckus. Not so! Why would people cause an up rise in something that was now so cheap and affordable? If someone uses drugs, who are they really hurting? Themselves. Obviously, if we took this route in terms of how we thought of drugs, we would then have to increase our level of understanding about the side effects as well as make sure that no one drove while under the influence of drugs. At the end of the day, can’t we conclude that those who use drugs are only hurting themselves versus others nine times out of ten? Why is it that alcohol can be legally bought but not drugs?
A lot of us forget that a while ago, the United States had prohibition. All of that being said, why not try it out- you know, test out the theory? After all, we probably have just as many drugs here (if not more) than we think. And while drugs may be bad, there has got to be a way to minimize the negative effects. Alert police officers to the problem. Try it out for one week in which people are allowed to use drugs in the privacy of their homes. As long as there are no drugs being used in the offices and people are being responsible in their drug use, how could it go wrong?

Trying to sleep when you having numerous things burning at the edge of your concious mind, means only one thing – insomnia. In order to sleep, our thought process has to slow way down to a point where our body instinctively slips into the void we call sleep. If you’re busy thinking about all of the things that you didn’t get done the previous day, you won’t be able to fall asleep. Worry is a powerful emotion, so powerful that it can lead to a lifelong problem with insomnia and numerous other maladies.
If you have several things that you’ve neglected to deal with, just grab a pen and paper and write them down. List the dastartly deeds and then jot down possible ways you can get the job done. Doing this, you are making a bonafide effort to change that particular situation. Now when you are in bed each night and you do think of that task, you’ll find reassurance in knowing that you are working towards resolving it. Your mind won’t be stuck on worrying about how it will never get accomplished. Crossing completed tasks off the list is a nice feeling.
Sleep is something that every human being just has to have.
Some people can get by with only a few hours of sleep, But for some, if they don’t get at a minimum eight hours, they cannot cope with daily functions. Their work, their relationships and their life is affected. Sleep is very important to a healthy and happy existance.
Insomnia can be a chronic problem for some people.
It can start during a particularly stressful time in your life or as a symptom of an illness. It causes such a powerful disruption in the persons sleep pattern that they struggle to find a way to get back a normal sleep pattern. Spending months or years trying to find a method to sleep is mighty frustrating.
Traditional medicine offers many alternatives for people who have suffered from the dreaded insomnia. Sleeping drugs are a heavily prescribed remedy. Although they do ‘knock you out’, they can also have serious side-effects. One of the most serious is that they are often addictive. It becomes a trade-off for those who choose this approach. Although their disorder is treated, they become addicted to legal drugs and in some cases become dependant on that medication for the rest of their lives. A very sad fate indeed.
There are natural alternatives. Zero side-affects.
And the old ‘warm milk’ is no wives tale. It does help.
There is a chemical that is released in milk once it is heated. This chemical is called tryptophan and it works to relax the body and help you to drift off to sleep.
One of the most natural remedies for insomnia caused by noise is actually more noise. That might seem difficult to believe, but it’s important to understand that the noise that you might need to sleep is specially prepared just for that purpose.
Silence doesn’t seem to be the answer for numerous people.
Certain sounds enhance the desire to sleep in people. The sounds might differ from person to person but in general they fall into several different categories. These sounds are then transferred onto a recording device and a consumer who is suffering from insomnia can purchase it. These create what I refer to as white noise . I like to have my fan running close by. Works wonders for me.
Give up worrying about things that can never be changed. It’s just a big waste of time and creates stress.
I sincerely hope this article has givin you some foresite in helping your insomnia.
All the best to you.

The Anti-Drug Message: Can it Prove Effective?

In today’s day in age, anti-drug messages can be found almost anywhere. Ranging from TV and radio commercials, billboards, magazine ads, dot-com ads and educational programs. Through nation-wide interviews and polls of our youths, information was divulged regarding the types of media and the drug-related media pitches that they indicate as being influential. Youths mentioned television shows and movies as general sources of information (both anti- and pro-) about drugs. They thought that, in general, TV glamorized violence and drug use; TV characters would use drugs, but there would always be a happy ending. Responses to these ads were generally similar. These ads are usually ignored and labeled as just another commercial. Many kids feel that if they don’t come in contact with the problem, it is not something to worry about.

These studies show that more effective means of instructing our youth outside of the classroom must be sought out and employed. When it comes to communicating important messages, the parent – child or teacher – student connections are not always the strongest. TV and other entertainment outlets, however provide much easier access to his or her emotions. In some cases, TV and movies may subtly dictate choices made further down the road. Not necessarily subliminal, but well-placed themes and lessons can prove beneficial to ethical development.

Few Americans know of a hidden government effort underway to convey anti-drug messages into the most pervasive and powerful billboard of all, network television programming. Government officials and their contractors have now begun approving, and in some cases altering, the scripts of shows before they are aired to conform to the government’s anti-drug messages. Congress has created an enormous financial incentive for TV programmers to push anti-drug messages in their plots. Stacking in at as much as $25 million in 2007, with the promise of even more to come in the future. Some of America’s most popular shows; including “Lost,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “CSI,” “Ugly Betty” and “Monk” are accordingly peppering their episodes with anti-drug pitches to cash in on a piece of this government advertising subsidy.

It seems like a product placement plan, but for a good cause. Without a surprise, there is a flipside to this coin. A good question is, why hasn’t this plan been disclosed to the American public? How far will a network go for a price? Some media watchdogs view this plan as propaganda, which is priced and ready for sale. Maybe the government is setting up for future unabated media manipulation. If it pays to employ subtle anti-drug messages, who’s to say money hungry networks won’t grease their palms and incorporate other plans that benefit the government more so than it’s people?

Unfortunately, above the surface, studies have shown that since the late nineties, close to 1 billion government dollars have been spent on the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign, which has lead to paltry results. Some might conclude that this campaign has inadvertently encouraged drug use amongst our youths. With a score of 6 out of 100 from an internal white house review, this program failed in the areas of results and accountability. These types of reports have lead Congress to gradually cut support to the program. From 2007 to 2008, Congress has slashed the anti-drug advertising budget by 40%, from $99 million to $60 million.

Partnership for a Drug-Free America is an example of a non-profit, American ad agency that started up in 1986 and has seen its share of scrutiny and with good reasons. This collective donated ads against drug use and received enormous tax breaks because of this strategy. The shocking part was the large amount of funding that came directly from legal drug corporations that profited from the sale of alcohol, tobacco and pharmaceuticals. This begs the question, when large amounts of cash change hands for these advertising deals, who is the beneficiary?

In conclusion, these ideas and interventions have their pros and cons. The pros are; if properly executed, subtle anti-drug tactics seem to be a more effective method of getting a positive message across to our youth in the TV and media generation than a full blown expensive campaign. For the TV networks this could serve as a good chance to earn funding. As for cons; for a price, the networks seem to be forfeiting their first amendment rights and they could be setting themselves up for future government offers that hold less moral value. This is debatable, however, maybe the government dollar would be of better use physically removing drugs from America’s streets.

People use drugs for a variety of reasons – mostly, though, to numb the pain of everyday life so they don’t have to face it. Eventually drug use turns to drug abuse and finally to drug addiction. Most people use the two terms interchangeably, but the truth is there is a difference between drug abuse and drug addiction.
Drug abuse is the use of illegal drugs or the inappropriate use of legal drugs. People who abuse drugs are using them to obtain a specific feeling – a “high” – that they can’t get from other substances. Often drug abuse is recreational with the drugs being used to loosen a person up and make them feel like they fit in with the crowd.
Drug addiction, on the other hand, is the uncontrollable use of drugs and the inability to stop using drugs in spite of health or social consequences. People with a drug addiction are physically and emotionally unable to stop using drugs. Their bodies have become used to having the drug in the system, and stopping the drug use brings about often painful physical and psychological symptoms.
Drug addiction does begin with drug abuse when an individual makes a conscious choice to use drugs, but addiction is not just “a lot of drug use.” Recent scientific research provides overwhelming evidence that not only do drugs interfere with normal brain functioning creating powerful feelings of pleasure, but they also have long-term effects on brain metabolism and activity.
At some point, changes occur in the brain that can turn drug abuse into addiction, a chronic, relapsing illness. Those addicted to drugs suffer from a compulsive drug craving and usage and cannot quit by themselves. Treatment is necessary to end this compulsive behavior.
Many people view drug abuse and addiction as strictly a social problem. Parents, teens, older adults, and other members of the community tend to characterize people who take drugs as morally weak or as having criminal tendencies. They believe that drug abusers and addicts should be able to stop taking drugs if they are willing to change their behavior. This just isn’t true.
People from all walks of life abuse drugs and become addicted. We can start combating these problems if we educate ourselves and each other about drug abuse and drug addiction. It is an ever-growing epidemic that doesn’t have to take hold of people or society. Drug abuse and drug addiction can be stopped, but only if we start with education.

Prospects for Legalizing Drug (Re-)Importation to the United States report ( http://www.bharatbook.com/Market-Research-Reports/Prospects-for-Legalizing-Drug-Re-Importation-to-the-United-States.html ) provides the information about the Rise, Fall and Partial Recovery of International Pharmacies. President Barack Obama said during his election campaign he would ‘allow Americans to buy their medicines from other developed countries if the drugs are safe and prices are lower outside the US’. He began delivering on this promise with a fiscal 2010 budget request for funds ‘to allow the FDA to begin developing policies for drug importation’. Earlier in 2009, with strong bipartisan support, Senator Bryon Dorgan (D-ND) re-tabled a bill to allow both personal and commercial drug importation. Obama himself, new White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and the influential Senator Edward Kennedy were co-sponsors of the identical 2007 version. The new HHS Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, signed up to a state importation programme when Kansas governor, and has now committed to implementing one at the federal level should the law change. With public and private payers across the country seeking to save every healthcare dollar to get through the economic recession, Dorgan senses a ‘bit of a tailwind’ behind his proposal this time. His supporters are tackling their critics head on with claims that rather than it being dangerous the measure will actually improve drug safety. Through a legislative manoeuvre, and the help of former presidential hopeful Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Dorgan has obtained a commitment from the Senate Majority Leader to bring his bill to the Senate floor for a vote later in 2009. Drug importation is back on the front burner. Is your company prepared? The report addresses :• What is proposed in the Pharmaceutical Market Access and Drug Safety Act of 2009.• Personal and commercial importation in perspective.• Answers to the key questions: Will the bill pass and when? If it passes, will it work and how soon? Where might supplies come from and how? Who would buy and use imported drugs in the US? What are the risks? What would be the savings?• How Canada’s international pharmacy business developed.• Comparison with parallel trade in EuropeYou’ve heard the sound bites, get the facts and analysis from an acknowledged expert on cross-border trade and international online pharmacy. Whether you want to protect your business in the US, assess the potential for becoming a player in what could be a new channel or a supplier to it, or are concerned about the knock-on effects in the 20 countries initially named as potential sources (inc. Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain and the UK) this report is essential reading.

Contact us at:Bharat Book BureauTel: 91 22 27578668Fax: 91 22 27579131Email: info@bharatbook.comWebsite: www.bharatbook.com
